Who We Are

The Compton Community Archive is committed to documenting and amplifying the histories of Compton’s Black and Brown communities through community-driven archiving. We prioritize the preservation of images, home videos, ephemera, and oral histories that challenge singular narratives about Compton. Our mission is to make these materials publicly accessible through an online database, digitization initiatives, and community-led projects, ensuring that history remains in the hands of those who create it. Through our Community Archive Fellowship, we also provide emerging archivists with opportunities to document their communities while redefining what archiving means for us.
